Dreamtime — by Plutonian LLC
Last updated: March 27, 2026
The short version
Dreamtime is built so we never see your dreams. All recording, transcription, and processing happen entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that store your content. We do not collect personal information. We do not track you. This is not a policy choice — it is how the app is built.
1. Who we are
Dreamtime is developed and published by Plutonian LLC, a California limited liability company. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means Plutonian LLC. When it says "you" or "your," it means the person using the App.
2. What Dreamtime does
Dreamtime is an iOS app that records and transcribes spoken dreams during sleep. It listens for voice activity while you sleep, captures audio segments, and transcribes them using on-device speech recognition. The result — audio recordings and text transcripts — is stored locally on your device.
3. Data that stays on your device
All of the following are created, processed, and stored entirely on your device. None of it is transmitted to Plutonian LLC or any third-party server:
- Audio recordings of your voice captured during sleep sessions.
- Transcripts generated by on-device speech recognition.
- Session metadata such as recording timestamps, durations, and dream dates.
- Search indexes built locally for finding your dreams by word or meaning.
- App preferences and settings.
We have no technical means to access, read, or retrieve any of this data. There is no server endpoint, no API call, no analytics pipeline. The data exists only on your device and, if you choose, in your iCloud account.
4. iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your dreams (transcripts and metadata) are synced across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit service. This sync occurs between your devices and Apple's iCloud infrastructure. Plutonian LLC does not operate any intermediary server in this process.
Dream metadata and transcripts stored in CloudKit use encrypted fields. Audio files, if synced, are stored as CloudKit assets within your private iCloud container.
Your iCloud data is protected by Apple's standard encryption. If you enable Apple's Advanced Data Protection, your data is end-to-end encrypted and inaccessible to Apple. We recommend enabling Advanced Data Protection for the strongest privacy. Regardless of your Advanced Data Protection setting, Plutonian LLC has no ability to access your iCloud data.
For details on how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple's iCloud security overview.
If you delete the App, your iCloud data is not automatically deleted. You can remove it manually in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Dreamtime.
5. Information we do not collect
To be explicit:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information (unless you voluntarily contact us — see Section 8).
- We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data.
- We do not collect usage analytics or telemetry.
- We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting.
- We do not collect health data, biometric data, or sleep metrics.
- We do not record, access, or process your audio on any server.
- We do not use your data to train machine learning models.
- We do not sell, share, rent, or disclose personal information to anyone, because we do not have any.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Dreamtime subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. When you subscribe, Apple processes your payment. We receive from Apple only the following anonymized information through our subscription management provider (RevenueCat):
- An anonymous, app-specific identifier (not your Apple ID or email).
- Which subscription product you purchased (monthly or annual).
- Subscription status (active, expired, trial, renewal intent).
- Purchase and expiration dates.
We do not receive your name, email address, payment method, or any other personally identifiable information from Apple or RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes this anonymized subscription data solely to manage entitlements.
We do not require you to create an account to use Dreamtime.
7. Third-party services
Dreamtime uses a minimal number of third-party services:
| Service | Purpose | Data shared | User control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store / StoreKit | Subscription purchase and management | Handled entirely by Apple | Managed in your Apple ID settings |
| RevenueCat | Subscription entitlement validation | Anonymous app-specific ID and subscription status only | None required; no personal data involved |
| Apple CloudKit | iCloud sync (optional) | Your dream data, synced to your own iCloud account; we cannot access it | You control sync in Settings |
| Sentry | Anonymous crash reporting (enabled by default) | Crash logs, device model, OS version, app version; no dream content, audio, transcripts, or personal identifiers | Disable in Settings → Technical → Share Anonymous Crash Reports |
Dreamtime does not integrate advertising networks, analytics SDKs, social media SDKs, or usage tracking tools. Dreamtime does not use third-party AI or cloud transcription services.
Dreamtime uses certain open-source libraries for on-device functionality. These are disclosed in the App under Settings → Legal → Licenses. None of these libraries transmit data off your device.
Privacy policies for the third-party services listed above:
- Apple: apple.com/legal/privacy
- RevenueCat: revenuecat.com/privacy
- Sentry: sentry.io/privacy
All trademarks, service marks, and trade names referenced in this policy are the property of their respective owners.
8. Information you voluntarily share with us
8.1 Support requests
If you contact us for support, we receive whatever information you include in your message, which typically includes your email address. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add your email to any mailing list, marketing database, or third-party service. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve your issue.
8.2 Diagnostic data
Dreamtime includes an optional diagnostic export feature (Settings → Technical → Export Diagnostics) that allows you to share technical logs with us for troubleshooting. This export may include device information, app logs, and crash reports. It does not include transcripts, audio recordings, or dream content. You initiate this export manually and choose how to send it (typically by email). We use diagnostic data solely to identify and resolve technical issues and delete it after the issue is resolved.
9. Crash reporting
Anonymous crash reporting is enabled by default to help us improve Dreamtime's reliability. When the App encounters an error, crash data is sent to Sentry. This data includes the type of crash, device model, operating system version, and app version. It does not include dream content, audio, transcripts, personal identifiers, or any information that could identify you.
You can disable crash reporting at any time in Settings → Technical → Share Anonymous Crash Reports.
10. Children's privacy
Dreamtime does not collect personal information from any user, regardless of age. Because there is no account creation, no data collection, and no server-side storage of user content, there is no mechanism by which we could knowingly or unknowingly collect data from children. The App's age rating and any parental restrictions are managed by Apple through the App Store and device-level parental controls.
11. Your rights under California law
Plutonian LLC is based in California. The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, grants California residents specific rights regarding personal information, including the right to know what is collected, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
Because Dreamtime does not collect, store, or process personal information on our systems, these rights are inherently satisfied by our architecture. We have nothing to disclose, delete, or stop selling, because we hold nothing.
We do not sell or share personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising or profiling.
If you wish to exercise any rights or have questions, contact us using the information in Section 17 below.
12. Your rights under other laws
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Brazil, or any other jurisdiction with applicable data protection law, similar principles apply: we do not collect or process your personal data on our systems. Your dream data remains on your device and in your iCloud account, both of which are under your control.
If you use iCloud sync, Apple acts as the data processor for your iCloud data under Apple's own terms and data processing agreements. Plutonian LLC is not a party to that processing.
13. Data export and deletion
Your data is yours. At any time, you can:
- Export your dreams as Markdown, plain text, or audio files from within the App.
- Delete individual dreams or all data from within the App.
- Remove iCloud data via your device's iCloud storage settings.
- Delete the App, which removes all local data from your device.
We cannot delete your data for you because we do not have it. Deleting the App removes all locally stored recordings, transcripts, and settings. iCloud data must be removed separately through Apple's settings.
14. Security
Because your data never leaves your device (except to your own iCloud account), the primary security boundary is your device itself. We recommend:
- Enabling Face ID or passcode lock on your device.
- Enabling Face ID protection within Dreamtime (available in Settings).
- Enabling Apple's Advanced Data Protection for end-to-end iCloud encryption.
- Keeping your device's iOS version up to date.
Dreamtime does not transmit data over the internet except for iCloud sync (to your own account), App Store subscription validation (handled by Apple), and optional anonymous crash reports (to Sentry, if enabled). There is no server to breach because there is no server.
15. Microphone usage
Dreamtime requires microphone access to record your voice during sleep. The microphone is active only during a recording session that you explicitly start. Audio captured by the microphone is processed and stored entirely on your device. No audio is streamed, uploaded, or transmitted to any server.
You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device's Settings → Dreamtime → Microphone. Without microphone access, Dreamtime cannot record but will continue to function for reviewing and exporting existing dreams.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Because we do not hold your email address (unless you have contacted us), we cannot notify you by email. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The most current version is always available at dreamtimeapp.com/privacy.
